In a world full of competing voices and influences, the New Testament repeatedly calls believers to be imitators. . This isn’t about shallow mimicry; it’s about learning to walk in faith by watching and following trustworthy examples who point us to Jesus. Over the next seven weeks, we’ll journey through key passages that urge us to “be imitators” so that our lives increasingly reflect the character and mission that God wants in us.
12 April 2026. In a culture bombarding us with endless models to copy, Scripture gives us a clear, counter-cultural invitation: learn to imitate those who truly follow Jesus. This isn’t about superficial mimicry or celebrity worship; it’s about observing faithful lives and letting their example shape our own walk with Christ. We begin by discovering what the Bible actually means when it calls us to be imitators. 1 Corinthians 4:14-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13-14
19 April 2026. As children of God, we carry His family resemblance—not by effort alone, but by looking to our perfect Father and reflecting His character. The call to imitate God flows from our secure identity as dearly loved sons and daughters, not from striving to earn His approval. This week we explore how His holiness, mercy, and love become the pattern for our daily lives. Ephesians 5:1-2
26 April 2026. Jesus is the ultimate model—perfect in humility, obedience, and sacrificial love—even when it led Him to the cross. The apostles never pointed to themselves as the final example; they always directed us back to Christ as the One worth following most closely. This week we see how having His mindset transforms our relationships, responses, and purpose. 1 Corinthians 11:1; 1 Peter 2:21-25
3 May 2026. Paul had the audacity to say, “Imitate me,” not because he was flawless, but because his life was transparently fixed on Christ through every hardship. His perseverance, passion for the gospel, and commitment to mentoring others offer us a tangible, human example of what it looks like to follow Jesus faithfully. We’ll examine why he could make such a bold call and what it means for us today. Philippians 3:17-21; 1 Corinthians 4:16
10 May 2026. God places living examples in our lives—pastors, elders, and faithful believers whose endurance and character point us to Christ. Scripture urges us to remember their faith, consider the outcome of their lives, and imitate the trust and patience that carried them through trials. This week we draw inspiration from both present leaders and the “hall of faith” heroes of Scripture. Hebrews 13:7; Hebrews 6:11-12; Hebrews 11
17 May 2026. Every day we face a choice: whose example will we follow—the world’s flashy counterfeits or the quiet, enduring good of God’s ways? The Bible draws a sharp line: do not imitate evil, but pursue what is genuinely good, loving, and righteous. This week we learn to discern and choose the path that leads to life and blessing. 3 John 1:11; Romans 12:9-21
24 May 2026. When we faithfully imitate godly examples, something beautiful happens: we ourselves become models worth following. The early church didn’t stay imitators forever; their transformed lives echoed outward, drawing others to Christ. As we close the series, we reflect on how God is calling us to live this out together and keep the chain of imitation going. 1 Thessalonians 1:4-10; Ephesians 4:1-3
