We are family! And just like your own family, we may not always be proud of it... but we stick together. The 34 one another exhortations in the Bible are like family rules and expectations that teach us how to interact with one another. By way of Romans 12, let's focus on building stronger relationships just as the Bible has taught us.

Within and outside of the church we have more varied opinions than ever before and a crowd of voices calling for tolerance. The Bible calls for a tolerance of sorts, but definitely not in congruence with the kind of tolerance the world calls for. Today's great one another is a call to "bear one another". From family. friends, church family to others, let's sincerely bear with one another just as we have been called to.

We interact with people everyday. We should leave people stirred up, uplifted and encouraged. That is what we do with one another. We are family, we bear with one another (last weeks message) and we are to “stir up one another”! Let's all be stir-uppers, and motivate, spur, stimulate, provoke, promote one another to love, good deeds, and to meeting together. When anyone walks away from us, they should have a positive spring in their step because we are stir-uppers.

If serving one another was a fully embraced goal, our church family would be the most sought after place in this community. Service is an important and distinctive mark of our calling to follow Jesus. So, let’s spend a few moments on service and together accept our God given privilege of serving one another.

The Rev. Dave Williams of Ridley College said "The vitality of the church was a measure of the reality of their prayers”. That sure is convicting. Then add the fact of the absence of our praying together. That is even more challenging. Well, no worries, let's look into his subject and increase simple take a few steps in the right direction of of praying more with one another.

Although there are 34 specific "one another's" in the New
Testament, there are actually 58 times "one another" is used. That means there is repetition. Like for instance, "love one another". In today's text we will have carefully move from step 1, to step 2, to step 3. The order and the understanding of the order is quite crucial. Let's dig in.

As we wrap up our one another's, we do so with encouragement. Let's build up and encourage one another, and wow, what a difference this will make in each of our lives as we strive to walk more closely with the Lord. Starting in I Thessalonians, let's talk about encouraging one another.
