The four weeks preceding Christmas (referred to as Advent) is a time of preparation and anticipation for the coming of Jesus. So ... let's do it. Let's have as much fun as usual this holiday season, but let's also make sure we are well prepared to celebrate the coming of Jesus with all the respect it deserves.

The amount of preparations that we make for Christmas is incredible! We make plans, cook, spend lots of money and decorate (and in moderation it is all good). While there is so much effort getting everything ready, let’s not miss Get’n Ourselves Ready. This morning we will begin our four Sunday’s of advent by preparing ourselves for the celebration of Jesus’ coming. Luke 3:4-16.

Last week we focused on Get’n Ourselves Ready-through generosity, honesty and contentment, this week we will focus of Get’n our Behavior Ready. Might there be an activity in our lives inconsistent with our commitment to Jesus? By looking into the amazing story of Jesus’ step-father, make some observations and better prepare for the coming of Jesus by Get’n our Behavior Ready. Matthew 1:18-25.

Let’s find encouragement this morning from the lives of a few simple shepherds. The shepherds can be a great model for us as to how to prepare for Christ’s coming through the normal routine of life. While I’m all for Get’n Excited about Christ’s return, let’s also keep pressing on and be found faithful for when he does come back. Luke 2:18-25

This morning, we’ll use Mary’s song to better prepare ourselves for Christmas. Within this song (the Magnificat), we’ll see three overpowering attitudes helpful in our own preparation for celebrating Advent… and for living. Luke 1:46-55.
